OUTDOOR WEATHER EXPECTATIONS

General Guidelines

• Players should be prepared to skate in cold weather.
• Dress in layers to stay warm and comfortable in the elements.

Cancellation Thresholds

• Non-Travel Players: Events are cancelled if the feels-like temperature is below 0°F.
• Travel Players: Events are cancelled if the feels-like temperature is below -10°F.

Attendance & Recognition

• Players may still skate at their scheduled time, but events held outside these thresholds will not be recognized as official DAYHA events.
• If your player will miss practice due to weather, please notify your head coach.
• Each family should make the decision that is best for their player’s safety and comfort.

Coach Expectations

• Coaches are encouraged to use scheduled time productively, even if skating is cancelled.
• Options include:
• Team-building activities
• Chalk talk / strategy sessions
• Dryland training
• Space in the new building is available to support these activities.
